The Moment
I like to read. I read allot, maybe too much. Sometimes I am asked what my favorite books are that I have read. That is usually a tough one, but there are a few that usually come to mind rather quickly and consistently. One that almost invariably springs up in my mind is a little book by a French, Catholic, Jesuit who lived in the latter part of the 17th century, into the beginning of the 18th century. His name was Jean-Pierre De Caussade. There is not much known about him but some of his writings were preserved and the book I am referring to is, “The Sacrament Of The Present Moment.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Church, my story & my take (pt.3)
When I arrived in 1997 I was a tie wearing, pulpit pounding, dogmatic Bible preaching pastor. This is who they hired, this is what they wanted, this is the deal we struck. I do have a little experience with the church and my take on the church has evolved over the years. I have to admit, though, that this evolution has come from experience, bumps, bruises and mistakes as much as from the new testament itself. Read the rest of this entry »

Unforgettable Memories, a bridge to freedom
This week writers island posted “Unforgettable” as the prompt. I had a bit of a difficult time deciding which way to go with this one. My first inclination was to write about some of the dark memories that I have. I have a whole file drawer full of them in my soul. Read the rest of this entry »
